From adding effects and filters and editing the colours a little I moved on to adding them to a bottle with an existing label, with all its information and context already on, just so it gave the bottle the connection to our style and Cuban idea. Below are the two outcomes.

Illustrative Branding Collaboration - Label idea 6
Following on from my first design, I used the same image for this second design, but reshaped and cropped the image to create a different feel and style to it. To do so, I also used similar filters which gave a different feel. I also wanted to use colour, from the original image and black and white so that it gave similar but different concepts that showed me what effects they had and what the bottle gained from this. The two images below are the styles and effects that I used, while only using the top half of the image as the label.

Illustrative Branding Collaboration - Label idea 5
Karl's second idea;
When putting his design on an image from google using Photoshop he decided the design did look good but it was hard to place the image without covering up too much of the text on the bottle. After expanding the label to fir the design on it created a blank area which he filled with another palm tree, however, we think it would of been better filled with a different design as the black silhouettes overpowered the hand drawn part of the design.

Phoebes second idea;
After sketching out a rough design in her sketchbook, she scanned them into photoshop to play around with different colours and backgrounds. We wanted to use purples and greys originally to keep it suitable for all year round. She then put it onto a black background with white line work and accidentally removed the background which in the end, worked out to be her favourite version of the design. We think the black image on a white background works for the ‘all year round’ theme of the brief and also could work along side some of Karl’s work. She then put the final design along side the Bacardi logo and roughly put it onto a bottle to see what the outcome would be.

Illustrative Branding Collaboration - Label idea 3
For my label design I wanted to use the feel and architecture of the Havana, in Cuba, for my designs as the architecture there is something that connects in a small way with the current designs on the Bacardi's bottles. To tone down the colour and detail of these buildings I added filters of different textures and styles to see how well the architecture would react. The results of this experimentation were very good and making some addition changes made them work even better. Some of the filters used were; Graphic pen, Chalk and Charcoal, Grain, Photocopy and Texturizer.
After my initial experimentations I took the best one and made it into a label design and added it to a bottle to see exactly how the colours, textures and logo would work together on the bottle.

Karl's idea;
Like Phoebe, Karl also wanted to keep the Cuban culture in consideration and its strong music inspiration so he looked at incorporating leafs and a music element into my design, so he made a simple design of bongo drums with palm leafs in the background.
After coming up with a background design he decided to experiment further in Photoshop to create some label designs for the Bacardi bottle. The minimal approach with the design works well, with the already clean looking label, especially the embossed design.
After coming up with some simple but well worked label designs, Karl decided to remove the label design and use his initial background design as a background for a possible advert design. In the first design, although the drums are not visible enough and could of been drawn better, in a different composition, the simple black and white palm leafs look good next to the bottle. In the second design, he also experimented with copying the layer to fill the negative space and embossed it to maybe give the image some texture.Illustrative Branding Collaboration - Label idea 1
Phoebe's idea;
After coming up with this leaf design, Phoebe wanted to collage them to come up with a basic background that we could potentially use on our label. She played around with the white and grey backgrounds and really like how they both turned out.

From this Phoebe then moved on to mocing up a label design. She came up with this design below, bye using the collage as a background and then placing the Bacardi logo on, using all the different variations of the Bacardi logo, to see which had the best affect and worked the best with the ideas and designs that we originally came up with. Below are all the different experimentations of this design.
Illustrative Branding Collaboration - Basic ideas
Phoebe's starting ideas:
After coming up with our vision statement, we discussed our basic ideas and took our research into consideration. We wanted to include the banana leaves that are around the DJ deck booth in the images Phoebe found from the Cuban night clubs. We wanted to make sure we take the Cuban culture into consideration but also mute down and change the colour scheme so that the work that we produce is suitable all year round. We really liked how the dark purple and dark green looked together so Phoebe played round with different textures and variations of the image.

After coming up with a few ideas, we reviewed them and the one below is one that didn't work. It made your vision more blurred and wasn't very pleasing to the eye. We will not be using this for the design. It doesn't look as blurred on the image inserted but on a small screen (which would be larger than the label) it did look blurred.
Illustrative Branding Collaboration - Initial ideas
After taking in all the research we had done I started to scamp out some ideas for labels and possible advertisement design so that we can go forward with development and experimentation with the Cuban ideal.

Illustrative Branding Collaboration - Customer profiles
In the brief, the age range that was stated was 18-26 which is a young audience. To gage what kind of people we will be aiming our rebrand at, Phoebe has done 3 customer profiles.
Profile 1:
Age: 18
Student who is just starting university and white rum is his favourite drink. His parents pay his rent so he has a lot of disposable income from his loan. He drinks it before a night outing usually changes to another drink once he reaches the clubs. He tends to mix it with coke. From Cambridge but at the university of Leeds.

Profile 2:
